The Department of English offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in four distinct concentrations, Language Studies, Creative Nonfiction, American Literature, and British/Irish/Anglophone Literature. Students who elect to major in English must pass with a grade of “C” or above in all their major course work.

English majors may satisfy the College of Arts and Sciences core quantitative literacy requirement by taking one of the following approved courses: MATH 1200: Quantitative Literacy; MATH 1320: College Algebra; MATH 1530: Introduction to Applied Probability and Statistics; MATH 1950; Calculus I (or any higher level calculus); PHIL 2010: Symbolic Logic; SOC 2130: Basic Statistics.
