Minor in Communication Studies

Students may earn a minor in communication studies. To fulfill the minor, students whose major is outside the School of Communication must complete 18 hours in speech communication courses, including 12 hours of upper level (3000- and 4000-level) courses. All SPCH classes except the course used to fulfill the general education oral communication competency may count toward the minor in communication studies. Journalism and broadcasting majors may minor in communication studies by taking 12 hours of upper level (3000- and 4000-level) courses in addition to the six hours of SPCH courses already required for the journalism and broadcasting majors, for a total of 18 hours. All courses in the minor must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
