UNO Career Center
The UNO Career Center continuously establishes and develops partnerships with employers, the community, and alumni to assist students in gaining the knowledge and skills that are necessary components of professional development.
The Career Center staff works with employers to provide students and faculty with the opportunity to engage in specialized career development and educational experiences that will increase knowledge and awareness of employment options and facilitate lifelong career development.
Services provided by the UNO Career Center
Career workshops assist students in preparing for their future career endeavors and providing them with the essential skills needed to successfully pursue employment opportunities. The Career Center staff provides resume and interviewing workshops on a regular basis each semester. Additional workshops on specialized career development topics are also offered.
The UNO Career Center provides individual career discussions on a by-appointment basis. Depending on each student’s individual need, career planning discussions can range from career approach and strategy to areas of growth and development opportunity in a given field or study. All UNO students have access to personal assistance in resume and interview preparation and job search planning.
Students can access local, regional and national employment listings through the online job posting system, Maverick HireWire. Part-time, full-time and internship opportunities are listed on the system and can be located though the CEO Web site at unoceo.unomaha.edu. To view job postings, students must register on Maverick HireWire. Upon completing the registration process students can also post their resume on the system.
The UNO Career Center hosts a Job Fair during the fall and spring semester of each academic year. The fairs feature employers who have current openings for full-time, part-time and internship positions and attract hundreds of local, regional and national employers each year
As a service to employers and students, the Career Center hosts on-campus interviews. Interviews take place regularly during the Fall and Spring semesters for a variety of full-time, part-time and internship positions. To apply for on-campus interviews students must register on the online job posting system, Maverick HireWire. Students interested in participating in on-campus interviews should also contact the Career Center for specific recruiting dates and additional information about registration procedures.
Job Shadow Opportunities
The UNO Career Center is assists students in locating job shadow opportunities. Job shadowing provides students with the chance to obtain knowledge about work in a specific occupation. The job shadow experience is short in duration, but it allows students to learn about the education, skills and characteristics required for success in a specific employment field.
Employers regularly set up informational tables in the Milo Bail Student Center where students can gather information and network with recruiters. Employer information tables typically take place during the fall and spring semesters.
