Speech Communication majors take a core of at least 21 hours in Speech Communication courses, 7 hours of Broadcasting/Journalism Courses and 3 hours of research methods or statistics plus choose a Speech Communication Area of Emphasis.

Additional BCO and BSC requirements

In addition all School of Communication Majors must choose completer 16 hours of Foreign Language or 15+ hours of an Outside Area of Concentration or Minor.

 

Foreign Language (BCO ONLY)                                                                                               16 hrs.

All BCO students must complete four semesters of the same foreign language or equivalent thereof.

  OR 

Area of Concentration or Minor (BSC ONLY)                                                                       15+ hrs

   Concentration: All majors must complete an outside area of concentration  

   OR

   Minor: This must include 15 hours total in one subject area or related subject; At least 6 of the 15 hours must consist of 3000-4000 level coursework OR a minor as prescribed by an outside department.
