Minor in Journalism and Media Communication

Students may earn a minor in journalism and media communication with courses to be chosen from JOUR and/or BRCT. To fulfill the minor, students whose major is outside the School of Communication must complete 18 hours in JOUR and/or BRCT, including 12 hours of upper level (3000- and 4000-level) courses. Within the journalism and media communication major, students may not have a minor in another sequence besides the primary sequence they have selected. For example, students following the journalism sequence cannot minor in the creative media sequence. Communication studies majors may have a minor in journalism and media communication by completing 15 hours of JOUR and/or BRCT courses (12 hours of which must be upper level) in addition to the JOUR/BRCT courses already required for the communication studies major. All courses in the minor must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
