Minor in Journalism and Media Communication

Students may earn a minor in journalism and media communication with courses to be chosen from JMC (formerly designated as JOUR and BRCT) offerings. To fulfill the minor, students whose major is outside the School of Communication must complete 18 hours in JMC (formerly JOUR and BRCT) offerings, including 12 hours of upper level (3000- and 4000-level) courses. Within the journalism and media communication major, students may not have a minor in another sequence besides the primary sequence they have selected. For example, students following the journalism sequence cannot minor in the creative media sequence. Communication studies majors may have a minor in journalism and media communication by completing 15 hours of JMC (formerly JOUR and BRCT) offerings  (12 hours of which must be upper level) in addition to the JMC (formerly JOUR and BRCT) courses already required for the communication studies major. All courses in the minor must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
